Microsoft that is also known for products like Microsoft Teams is now distributing revised hardware indicator flyouts (eerily resembling those found on macOS and iOS) that are in line with the design of Windows 11. This update is available to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.

Users have been requesting the new style for quite some time. Nevertheless, some of them already believe that it would not operate well enough on Windows devices with touchscreens and that it does not fit the design previously seen in the control panel.

“To comply with Windows 11 design principles, we have redesigned the flyout design for the hardware indicators for brightness, volume, camera privacy, the camera on/off, and airplane mode,” Microsoft’s Amanda Langowski and Brandon LeBlanc noted.

“These new flyouts will display when you hit the volume or brightness buttons on your device, and they will honor light/dark mode to provide you with a much more consistent Windows experience.”

The Windows Insider staff also said that after downloading the new dev version, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533, the volume and brightness indicators are still functional.

This week, Microsoft will also begin to launch a redesigned Your Phone Calls experience to all Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel, complete with improved graphics such as new icons and fonts.

“This upgrade features a redesigned in-progress call window with redesigned icons, fonts, as well as other user Interface modifications that fit with Windows 11’s enhanced design,” Langowski and LeBlanc explained yesterday.

In addition, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533 offers several improvements for driver or firmware upgrade difficulties, application sign-in issues, photo import issues, and Windows Explorer crashes.

Windows Insiders who wish to give opinions on improved experiences can do so using the Feedback Hub (located under Apps > Notepad).
