Microsoft 365 advertisements are shown in Office 2021.

Microsoft Office customers have reported seeing a slew of sneaky Microsoft 365 advertisements throughout their work.

Several customers emailed the Technology website with screenshots of a new pop-up promoting Microsoft 365 Family memberships within Microsoft Word documents.

The “Limited Time Offer” advertises three months of Microsoft 365 for “$$0.99,” prompting some users to suspect fraud. Other users reported alternative text that suggests joining Microsoft 365 “is like receiving six memberships in one.”

What particularly irritated people is that the advertisements utilize the same structure and style as that displayed when requesting users to allow macros. Therefore, implying that some absent-minded users can click without realizing it.

It is unclear whether the advertisement is part of a larger offer or only affects a selected number of people.

This is the most recent issue to affect Microsoft 365 and Office customers in recent months, as the corporation seeks to attract more people to its platform.

For some time, Microsoft has been seeking to urge users to upgrade to Windows 11. Even though the most recent AdDuplex data suggests that Windows 11 is installed on fewer than a quarter of all PCs.

The corporation has recently had to turn back on plans to discontinue support for various versions of Office software. With support initially scheduled to cease for Office 2016 and Office 2019 in October 2023, users would be unable to access Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online.

Teams parent company is also releasing a new dashboard that will emphasize indicators like as use, in-product comments, and Net Promoter Score numbers to aid IT administrators with monitoring.

The software giant has stated that large enterprises find it difficult to manage the usage of cloud services such as Microsoft 365 since data is either kept in many different places or is not available at all.
