As per a press statement, Windows 11, Microsoft’s newest OS, is now beginning to launch one of its much-anticipated features, Android apps for Desktop. The Amazon Appstore in the Microsoft Store, in which you can install Android apps, will be available in preview for the users in the United States.

Using Android Apps on Desktop with Windows 11 requires a few pieces of hardware, including a minimum of 8 Gigabytes of RAM, a solid-state drive, and a compatible CPU. And here is how you can see the preview:

  • Open the Microsoft Store (check to see whether it’s updated by going to the store and choosing Get updates > Library).
  • Look for your favorite applications and games.
  • You may now install those apps through the Amazon Appstore.

As per Microsoft, the Amazon Appstore trial allows users to view an additional one thousand applications, such as Audible and Kindle, and also a new category of mobile apps and games developed in collaboration with Intel.

“These applications seem like they’re a part of Windows, combining effortlessly with Windows input and windowing experiences, such as Snap layouts,” said Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer in a statement.

Together with the Amazon Appstore preview, Microsoft is improving the taskbar. The updated taskbar now includes the option to share windows from active applications, weather information, a clock on your secondary monitor, and mute/unmute capabilities to help with video meetings. Microsoft has also redesigned Media Player, emphasizing a “full-featured” music library, while Notepad gets a redesigned UI with a dark mode, simplified menus, and capabilities such as multi-level undo’s.

Microsoft, famously known for its brilliant products like Office 365, has been gradually releasing Windows 11, however, support for Windows 10 will continue for another few years. If you possess a Samsung Galaxy and are still running Windows 10, you may utilize Android apps on your Desktop.
