Slack-like features are arriving in Meta’s SMS service Messenger, to make it simpler to attract the interest of a whole group chat.

Entering “@” and a person’s name, such as in Google Workspace and several other online services nowadays, will tag that individual in a group chat or file. However, with the upcoming @everyone shortcut, Messenger SMS service users on iOS and Android will be able to make sure that whatever they say is seen by everybody in a chat.

Whenever you begin a message in Messenger with @everyone, every one of the users in the chat will be alerted. It is ideal for group reminders, unexpected get-togethers, or even when you simply require everybody’s assistance answering a particular issue.

Meta’s SMS Service shortcuts

alongside the new @everyone shortcut, Meta is introducing a new /silent shortcut for whenever you want to express something in a group chat and do not want to awaken everyone with a notification or annoy people in other time zones. This shortcut is also accessible on Instagram, except it is spelled as “@silent”.

As per a recent blog article, Meta’s forthcoming @everyone and /silent shortcuts are only the start. As Facebook’s parent company aims to introduce many more shortcuts to its SMS service Messenger in the future.

Messenger users in the United States will shortly be capable of utilizing the /pay shortcut to give and receive cash straight from one-on-one chats. To utilize the shortcut, try typing /pay to safely transfer or receive money without incurring any costs.

GIFs are yet another popular form for people to express themself. Hence why Meta intends to offer a new /gif shortcut to Messenger for iOS. Entering /gif accompanied by a subject at the start of a text will bring up a list of GIFs that people may pick to embed into their chats.

Elevate Your Business

Similarly, Meta intends to bring out its own /shrug and /tableflip shortcuts on Messenger for iOS. So people wouldn’t have to write out all the aged text-based table flip and shrug emojis.

For Messenger users, @everyone, /silent, and /gif are all useful features. However, /shrug and /tableflip date back to a simpler time when emoticons were just as popular as they are today.
