Microsoft Edge’s new Sidebar will be a new attraction for its users that puts Bing at the front and center.

Microsoft is known for being “the software giant” that has not only designed the idea of information technology but also carries the likes the Microsoft 365, and Windows 11 under its umbrella. If we look closely, it all didn’t start like that.

Changes were made, updates were created, newer versions were installed, and new entries were introduced to come that far. At some point we all were using Windows Vista and MS Office 3.0, remember!!

The brand-new Sidebar menu will have Bing in front and center in upcoming Microsoft Edge updates.

This latest Edge’s Sidebar has been allowed to some users in the Canary. Initially, the Sidebar menu will allow users to use Bing, a calculator, read emails on outlook and check MSN games without leaving the current page.

We can also send emails. Convert various units on the calculator and test internet speed in Edge’s Sidebar menu. It’s important to point out that users will not be able to play MSN games in it, for that they will have to open a new tab. Similarly for Microsoft Office apps users will have to move to another tab for now (hopefully).

If you are a Vivaldi user, you will recognize this new Sidebar menu as it is quite similar to the browser’s web panel. Both are useful if you have to do a quick task, but you don’t feel like opening a separate tab.

Apart from these features on Edge’s new Sidebar menu, the company has added the option of allowing its users to add their favorite sites so they could perform tasks without affecting their productivity and pace.

As of now, the Sidebar menu is not been officially introduced to the common population therefore many sites are not yet optimized to fit on smaller screen space. It will come into effect once Edge users get their hands on this feature.

Microsoft has also given its users the authority to turn off this feature. For people who are not interested in using it, it can be disabled by pressing “Ctrl+Shift+/”. Similarly, this command can also turn on this feature.

So, if you want to try Edge’s Sidebar menu, you can use it on Edge Canary’s browser menu options.

At this point, Edge’s Sidebar menu is in the early stages, Microsoft will make modifications and after several updates, one can hope Microsoft will allow its users to use all the flagship apps on the Sidebar menu. I, for once am looking forward to the day when I would be able to access Teams on the Sidebar menu.
